ASCE 2015 Results

The steel bridge competition was May 22-23 at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, Missouri.  The 7-person crew set things up on May 22nd – one can see such on the NMSU Facebook sites.  The NMSU results were 33 out of 47 teams from throughout the North American continent.

The concrete canoe competition is June 20-22 at Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina.  The NMSU rank this year was 14 of the 22 at the completion and last year the team got 13th.

The students needed about $16,000 to get themselves and their constructions to the National Championships.  If you’d like to help support the chapters further, mail a check payable to “ASCE”, Mail 3CE, Box 30001, NMSU, Las Cruces, NM 88003 OR one could use “Donate” icon on the front of this web site.  Juan Albert, NMSU COE Assistant to the Dean, helped with getting both Civil Engineering and Engineering Technology graduates to donate.

Dr. Martin was informed that our ASCE student chapter did so well in last week’s regional competition at the University of New Mexico. The Aggies won the canoe competition, came second in the Steel Bridge, and finished overall second, missing first place by a tiny margin. We were competing with 14 schools, some of which enjoy substantial sponsorship. Some even require ASCE competition as part of their curricula. Aggies students are all volunteer. And we congratulate them.
